Valley Animal Hospital - Meet Our Doctors 
Totten K. Warfield, Jr., DVM

Dr. T.K. Warfield, a native Tucsonan, has been affiliated with Valley Animal Hospital for over 30 years. He became an associate of the hospital in 1975 after graduating from Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He attended the University of Arizona for his undergraduate degree. Go Cats!

Dr. Warfield's practice has a strong focus on joint disease, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. He serves as the primary veterinarian for several law enforcement canine units.

As an active community leader, Dr. Warfield has been a member of The Centurions for many years and has served on various boards throughout his career. Dr. Warfield enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with family. He and his wife, Donna, are spending every available moment spoiling their grandchildren.

John D. Vagnetti, Jr., DVM

Dr. Vagnetti was inspired to become a veterinarian as a youngster while visiting his cousin's veterinary clinic. As he watched a litter of puppies being delivered by c-section, he decided to pursue veterinary medicine.

Following graduation in 1983 from Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Vagnetti left the Great Lakes, trees, and snow to begin his career at Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Vagnetti's professional interests include reptile medicine and small mammal medicine.

Dr. Vagnetti enjoys traveling, fishing, scuba diving, and reading. He and his wife, Alpha, include their two dogs in many of their outdoor adventures.

Blake A. Herrington, DVM

Following a four year tour in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Herrington earned his B.S. degree in Cellular and Developmental Biology in 1982 from the University of Arizona. He received his D.V.M. in 1993 from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Herrington joined Valley Animal Hospital in June of 1993. His service provides small animal medicine and surgery, with a focus on gastroenterology and avian medicine and surgery.

Dr. Herrington stays busy raising his children and caring for their many and various pets. He enjoys home improvement projects, bicycling, bagpipe playing, as well as traveling.

Debra P. Kellams, DVM

Dr. Debra Kellams was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Edinboro University in 1976, she moved to Tucson to work in the virology lab at the University of Arizona. Her background in the medical field and great love of animals influenced her decision to pursue a career as a veterinarian.

Dr. Kellams joined Valley in 1985, after graduating from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Her service provides small animal medicine and surgery, including special interests in avian and exotic mammal medicine and surgery. She has also developed her skills in veterinary abdominal ultrasound.

Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include spending time with family, skiing, aerobics, and cycling.

Kerry A. Gillooly, DVM

Dr. Kerry Gillooly is a 2003 graduate of Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She joined Valley in September 2005, after working for two years in Illinois at a small animal and equine practice. Small animal internal medicine and surgery are her areas of professional interest. In her personal time, Dr. Gillooly enjoys jogging and outdoor activities with her husband Sean.

Alexis R. Moreno, DVM

Dr. Alexis Moreno worked at Valley Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant during her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona. She graduated from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary medicine in 2003. Following an internship in Florida, she was hired as an associate and practiced in Florida for 18 months before returning to Valley as a staff veterinarian in October 2005.  Dr. Moreno enjoys cardiology, avian and exotic mammal medicine and surgery, as well as emergency medicine. She had the opportunity in Florida to provide marine mammal rehabilitation.  Dr. Moreno and her husband have three daughters, two birds, and two dogs. The outdoors is where Dr. Moreno prefers to spend leisure time.

Ashley K. Morgan, DVM

Dr. Ashley Morgan is an Indiana native who graduated in 2006 from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed an internship at Valley Animal Hospital prior to joining the hospital as an associate in 2007. Dr. Morgan enjoys emergency medicine as well as working with all species of animals, including exotic pets and zoo animals.

Dr. Morgan's family includes her husband, son and their cat. Her hobbies include outdoor activities, puzzles, NASCAR racing, and motorcycles.

Alison Forrest, DVM
Dr. Alison Forrest graduated from the University of Georgia in 2006. She then came to Valley Animal Hospital to complete a one year rotating internship. She was offered a job in Atlanta and decided to go back to be closer to family. After a year away, she and her husband missed Tucson. It was then that she decided to rejoin the Valley Animal Hospital family. She has spent the past two years practicing emergency and critical care medicine. She has a strong interest in surgery and exotic animal medicine. Her ultimate career goal is to work with marine mammal rehabilitation medicine; with a special interest in manatees.
Having been raised overseas, Dr. Forrest loves to travel; though lately her family and job have kept her rooted close to home. She shares her home with her husband, son and their pets. With her quiet time she often reads or writes poetry. 
 
Lindsay McCrady, DVM
Dr. Lindsay McCrady grew up in Tucson, AZ and became interested in veterinary medicine during her eleven years of participation in 4-H showing pygmy goats. She completed her undergraduate studies
at the University of Arizona and earned a B.S. in Veterinary Science with a minor in Chemistry in 2005. During that time she also worked as a veterinary technician here at Valley Animal Hospital and became manager of the emergency service. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in May of 2009, graduating with recognition from the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. From there she moved to Florida and completed a specialty internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Dr. McCrady has eight years of experience as an emergency veterinary technician and has a strong interest in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. Her other professional interests include internal medicine and small ruminant medicine.
 
She elected to move back to Arizona to settle down and be close to her family. She rejoined the Valley team with hopes of ultimately joining in partnership with her sister, who is also a veterinarian at Valley, and be at the forefront of gold standard veterinary care.   In her free time, Dr. McCrady enjoys snuggling with her three kitties, riding her ATV, water-skiing, spending time with her family and playing volleyball. She is also very passionate about goats!!!
 
 
 
 
 
 
Amy Hoffman, DVM 
 Dr. Amy Hoffman is originally from western New York and began her career in veterinary emergency medicine as a veterinary assistant at an emergency clinic in Buffalo during her undergraduate studies. She then moved to Long Island and worked as an emergency technician for five years. She then attended Ross university and completed her clinical year at Cornell university, graduating with her DVM in 2002 with honors. Amy has worked multiple veterinary emergency practices from Long Island to Las Vegas. Most recently she spent a year at a specialty and referral practice in Pittsburgh, Pa. She moved to Tucson to join the Valley Animal Hospital family in 2011 and hopes to have found her new home. Her interests include cardiology and strong interest in feline and pocket pet emergency and critical care medicine.
In her spare time she is kept quite busy with her husband, 4 children, 5 cats, an English Bull Terrier, 3 guinea pigs, 2 chinchillas, 7 parakeets and a green Iguana. With any other free time she enjoys yoga, music and horseback riding.
 
  
Meet Our Interns
Andrew Bean, DVM

Dr. Andrew Bean, a native or Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduated from the University of Minnesota College of

Veterinary Medicine in 2011. While in vet school he was active in many student organizations including the zoo, avian, and exotic animal medicine club, and the student chapters of the American College of Veterinary Pathology and American Animal Hospital Association.

Prior to a career in veterinary medicine, Dr. Bean received a Bachelor of ARts in music from Carleton College in Northfield, MN, where he studied woodwind performance (flute, clarinet, and saxophone) and jazz & African American history. He then moved to New York City for a year of intensive study, ultimately deciding that music would be a hobby rither than a vocation. He became interested in veterinary medicine while reading the "All Creatures Great and Small" books by James Herriot, and worked as a veterinary assistant and fencing instructor until starting vet school in 2007.

Dr. Bean's professional interests include medicine and surgery of exotic companion mammals and birds, canine and feline internal medicine, infectious diseases, teaching, and epidemiology. He has a special spot in his heart for guinea pigs.

Dr. Bean and his wife live in Tucson with their dog, "Gracie" and their guinea pig, "Amelie" 

 

Sara Kaplan-Stein, DVM

Dr. Sara Kaplan-Stein is a Florida native who graduated from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Sara enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially working with exotic pets, wildlife, and zoo animals. In addition to obtaining her doctorate from UF, Sara also received a Master of Public Health. Zoonotic and emerging diseases are also an interest of hers.

Sara is an accomplished equestrian, who enjoys training and competing in both Dressage and Eventing. Her hobbies include outdoor activities (snowboarding, running, and hiking), traveling, and trying new things. She has two cats ("Tiger" pictured), two miniature schnauzers, two horses, and a chinchilla. 

Amy Morganstern, DVM

Dr. Amy Morganstern is a New York native and 2011 graduate of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include exotic pets, critical care, shelter medicine, and animal behavior and training. She spends most of her free time snuggling with her bloodhound, Pete.
